The Best Clean Beauty Products at Target
Written by Beatrice Walker / July 11, 2021
We’ve all been there at some point or another, and it’s now become a running joke. Walk into a Target for one item, and come out with every other thing besides the one you were looking for. Every single time I visit any Target store, perusing around the beauty section is a must. For those of you who know, you know that Target has been the plug for the best affordable hair care, skin care, and beauty options for some time now. Each aisle dedicated to a different beauty or wellness category always has an enticing new product just screaming to be bought. I also have to mention that Target has been really good about featuring black women owned products! Target has also been featuring more “clean” beauty brands. The term clean refers to products that contain all or a majority of organic and vegan ingredients, while also being cruelty free, and sustainably made. Since Target is also known as a place where the budget conscious shop, the clean beauty product brands they carry are also very affordable compared to other one stop shop beauty markets. Below I’ve curated a list of my favorite clean beauty brands and products that are sold at Target, from lotions, to body wash, deodorants, and more.
Love Beauty and Planet Body Lotion
This product was one of the first clean brands I tried from Target and the first time I tried it I fell in love! It has a wonderful creamy consistency, absorbs into the skin really well, and smells divine! Lavender is my favorite scent, but honestly you can’t go wrong with any of them. My skin gets very dry, and I usually have to apply other lotions at least twice a day, but not this one! Love Beauty & Planet has a variety of personal care and beauty products that are all vegan, silicone, paraben, and cruelty free. Not only is the packaging beautiful it’s also made out of recycled materials which is part of LB&P’s commitment to reduce their carbon footprint.
2. Raw Sugar Body Wash
Looking for a body wash that doesn’t dry your skin out, contains no harsh chemicals, and smells great? This is for you! Raw Sugar is yet another one of the clean beauty brands specializing in vegan, sulfate, paraben, and cruelty free products. Founded in LA, Raw Sugar is a mission focused brand with an initiative to donate a bar of soap for every product that is purchased. Also, I just can’t write about this product without mentioning the price, a 40 oz bottle for $9.99 is a steal!
3. Sun Bum Sunscreen
I cannot stress the importance of using a good SPF especially during summer and Sun Bum is a fantastic option if you’re looking for a new product to try. First of all the smell is absolutely sublime and again happens to be vegan, cruelty free, and unlike many sunscreens is reef friendly! Sun Bum is another mission driven brand with their initiative “Protect the Groms” where they donate funds to elementary schools to build shaded structures for kids to play outside. We love da kids and we love SB products!
4. Cocokind Rosewater Facial Toner
I am obsessed with rosewater toners (no really I have three different ones in my bathroom right now), but this one from CocoKind is one of my favorites and it’s one of the newer clean products I’ve tried from Target. It has a nice light rosy smell and comes out in a perfectly well distributed spritz. Cocokind hits all the marks for being a conscious beauty brand by being plant based, sustainable, affordable, and cruelty free.
5. Pacifica Beauty Stress Rehab Face Mask
If you’re in need of a little pampering this sheet mask from Pacifica is perfect for a little Sunday self care moment. Pacifica has several different single use sheet masks that address a variety of skin conditions, this one happens to be one of my favorites, but honestly they’re all really good. As an environmentally conscious brand Pacifica has created a program where you can also recycle your products for free by returning up to eight items. All you have to do is go online to Pacifica.com, fill out the form, and they’ll send you a prepaid shipping label so you can ship your empties back which is pretty cool!
6. Native Deodorant
With the growing concern of harmful additives in most deodorants, Native features ingredients such as coconut oil, shea butter, and other natural plant based ingredients. Apart from also being aluminum and paraben free, they’re also environmentally conscious, and have created a plastic free version of their packaging. My favorite scent is the coconut and vanilla, it’s very subtle, but I prefer a more natural smelling deodorant as opposed to an overly floral or soapy smelling one.
